President Obama has had critics from left and right complaining that he is doing nothing about poverty. As with everything he does, he gave careful thought to how he would deal with poverty. It was always on his agenda. Yet, the naysayers kept yapping at his heels for their own agendas. I continue to sing praises of this great President on how he governs. Many thanks Mr. J.B.

Remarks by the President on Promise Zones

 

Yesterday, on the 50th anniversary of the War on Poverty, President Obama announced the first five “Promise Zone” locations across the U.S. The program, first unveiled at his State of the Union address last year, is an initiative that partners with local communities and businesses to create jobs, expand access to educational opportunities and spur economic mobility and security.
